The Dark Web is a part of the World Wide Web that is not indexed by traditional search engines (such as Google) and requires specific software, such as the Tor (The Onion Router) browser, to access. It is part of the “Deep Web,” which is simply the non-indexed portion of the Internet. The Dark Web is distinguished by its high level of anonymity, making it a space often associated with illegal activities and black markets (sale of drugs, weapons, stolen data, etc.). However, it is also legitimately used by journalists, political dissidents, and whistleblowers seeking to communicate securely and privately.
